lol646With under 24 hours to go until the trade deadline, the St. Louis Cardinals are looking like one of the bigger sellers this season. After moving on from Ryan Helsley and Steven Matz on Wednesday, the Cardinals are poised for more moves on deadline day.

aurora gameAccording to a report from Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Cardinals are receiving interest for a trio of sluggers who are of interest around the league. Those players are Lars Nootbaar, Brendan Donovan, and Alec Burleson.

'The St. Louis Cardinals,' Nightengale reports, 'who are wide open for business, have several teams, including the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies, expressing interest in the likes of Lars Nootbaar, Alec Burleson, and Brendan Donovan.'

Burleson, at 26 years old, is the youngest of these three Cardinals sluggers. He is under team control through 2028, and would cost a buyer a lot to land at the deadline. He's a left-handed hitter who has a .287 average, 14 home runs, and an .809 OPS.

Nootbaar, who's on the injured list, is a left-handed outfielder like Burleson, who is 27 years old and under team control through 2027. He's struggled a bit this season, hitting .227 with 12 home runs and a .712 OPS through 88 games.

Donovan, on the other hand, is the oldest, at 28 years old, but is likely the most coveted of the three. He's under team control through 2027 and was named an All-Star for the first time in his career this season. Donovan has a .285 average with nine home runs and a .774 OPS to go with solid defense at second base and in the outfield.

Each of these three players would go for a lot, and with each being left-handed hitters, a team like the Houston Astros, in need of lefty bats, could be a potential trade partner. Nightengale mentions that Houston and Philadelphia are in on these three players.

On deadline day, the Cardinals will be busy fielding offers for Phil Maton and JoJo Romero in the bullpen, but this report from Nightengale suggests that they are also open to offers on Nootbaar, Donovan, and Burleson.

With extra years of control, the Cardinals don't need to move any of these three this season. But, with under 12 hours until the trade deadline, these three left-handed hitters are worth monitoring for a potential trade.
